Description:
A Los Angeles City public course.
When we went to play Hansen Dam, we found that with the exception of one longer par 5, it's a fairly short course with wide open fairways. Most obstacles and bunkers are avoidable with the right club choice, or just flying them with a driver.
If you are a longer player, there are a few reachable par 4's with significant elevation changes making for nice eagle opportunities. Green speeds were pretty slow, so you really had to hit the ball and it wasn't very consistent between holes. Overall, pace of play was just under 4 hours and it is a well kept course. If you have a chance to get out with your friends, this is a course where you won't lose many balls.
Insider Tip:
Be careful on hole 10 though, if you are short of the green by 2 yards on your drive or approach, you could watch your ball roll about 100 yards back down the steep sloping fairway.

Practice Area:
The driving range has mats and allows for a 300 yard drive. During the week they open a designated grass area for off mat practice. They have 3 putting greens, however speeds were inconsistent the day we played. They also had 3 chipping greens with a large practice bunker. These greens, however, were not true speed greens, so roll out and spin control are difficult to judge before your round.Scorecard:
